The Media/Content Development Internship is designed to provide students and recent grads with a hands-on experience within Visit Pasco, the Destination Management Organization for Pasco County, through assisting with special projects directly related to marketing our destination. This internship will provide a unique opportunity to be involved in many exciting projects, including marketing initiatives, FAM tours, new brand launch, contend development and more.

 Essential Job Functions:
·         Assists the Communications Manager to develop content for informational brochures, including a Destination Guide, Golf Guide, Dining Guide, and other print collateral, as directed.

·         Assists the Communications Manager to coordinate photo and video shoots. Maintains ongoing list of photographic needs. Creates and manages searchable digital photo & video library.

·         Assists the Communications Manager to draft and publish ongoing e-newsletters, as well as contributing other stories to promote different segments such as sports, meetings, leisure, etc.

·         Assists the Communications Manager to coordinate familiarization tours, travel writers, etc.

·         Collaborates with the Communications Manager to ensure social media campaigns are consistent with overall marketing and advertising messages.

·         Assists the Communications Manager to update website content, images and video.

·         Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
·         Independent judgment guided by general direction is required to research and communicate information.

·         Requires high level thinking to analyze issues and trends, and to provide effective findings and assessments in support of various organizational objectives.

·         Requires regular contact with C-level private industry executives, members of the public, elected and appointed officials, and staff.

·         Requires developing and maintaining ongoing external relationships with local stakeholders, private businesses and other industry related professional associations.

·         This position may involve handling sensitive or confidential information, complex situations, and ability to coordinate multiple functions while attending to additional duties and responsibilities as required.

·         Ability to create and present ideas and findings clearly and concisely in written, oral, and graphic form.

·         Ability to interpret applicable legislation, rules, and codes.

·         Ability to operate a computer and industry-related software.

 Minimum Requirements:
PHYSICAL SKILLS:  Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Occasional heavy lifting may be required over 50 pounds.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:  Students and/or  recent grads from an accredited college or university in Mass Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, Website Development or any related fields.  Knowledge and experience with CMS, CRM, SEO and website development.

:  Must possess a valid driver’s license.

·         Assists Tourism Program Manager to update CRM system.

·         Uploads Hotel Request for Proposals from event planners in CRM system and distribute information accordingly.

·         Assists Tourism Program Manager to draft proposals to bring sports events to the Visit Pasco.

·         Assists the Tourism Program Manager to identify and recruit events that can be hosted at any of our venues.

·         Assists the Tourism Program Manager to update sports events reports.

·         Updates leads coming from tradeshows and assists Tourism Program Manager to follow up on potential opportunities.

·         Assists the Tourism Program Manager in the contract management process for the event funding program.

·         Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
·         Enrolled in an academic program consistent with marketing and management in the sports industry.

·         Project management and time management skills to organize tasks, time, resources, and people and deliver projects in a timely manner.

·         Good writing, communication and people skills.

·         Prior sports related experience preferred and helpful.

·         Computer skills using Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.

·         Strong interpersonal communications and computer skills including speaking, writing and presenting to diverse cultures and groups.

·         Ability to work closely with State, regional, and local partners to attract and host events that encourage state or national industry related annual meetings.

·          Knowledge and experience with CMS and CRM preferred but not required.

Job Description Overview: Working with Cyber Florida to provide support to the Communications and Marketing Manager.

Organizational Summary: The Florida Center for Cybersecurity (Cyber Florida) is a state-funded organization dedicated to positioning Florida as a national leader in cybersecurity through education and workforce development; innovative, interdisciplinary research; and community outreach. Hosted at the University of South Florida, Cyber Florida works with all 12 State University System of Florida (SUS) institutions as well as industry, government and defense to build partnerships and develop programs that grow and strengthen Florida’s cybersecurity industry.

Position Summary: The Communications Intern will assist in expanding the recognition and reputation of Cyber Florida by supporting public relations initiatives. This position is responsible for assisting with mail and email campaigns, conducting research for presentations and articles, writing blog articles, creating presentations, and investigating new outlets to promote Cyber Florida news and events.

Duties and Responsibilities may include:

  • Work in a web-based email client to update and maintain mailing lists and to prepare email campaigns
  • Prepare outgoing packages for mail
  • Research and write articles for the Cyber Florida blog
  • Review industry reports and provide summary highlights
  • Update and create presentations
  • Assist with the production of the Cyber Florida podcast
  • Investigate potential outlets for Cyber Florida news and establish relationships with media
  • Support outreach events
  • Perform other duties as required to meet the overall mission, goals, and objectives of Cyber Florida.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration or other field directly related to the position’s specific responsibilities. Student must exhibit effective communication skills, be punctual, detail oriented and demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn and help. Must be responsible and dependable. Must handle confidential information in a professional and ethical manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with PowerPoint, Excel, and HTML-based content management systems and email clients. Ability to conduct thorough research and provide high-level summaries. Experience working in an office/clerical setting. Ability to meet deadlines and respond quickly to changing priorities.
