Duties:
Social Media:
 Update and maintain PCGS’s social media presence, to include scheduling Facebook, Instagram and Twitter posts on a daily basis.
 Creating quality and attention grabbing posts that will benefit PCGS students, community partners and potential donors.
 Respond to all comments, messages, and inquires on media channels.
 Create fliers, videos and interactive posts to help boost engagement.
 Managing the communication budget to accommodate paid advertising and promotional materials.
 Source vendors for required marketing materials; once approved, coordinate delivery;
News:
 Assist in planning, writing and emailing monthly Newsletter via Constant Contact.
 Draft at least four news articles a month. Share with UCM as appropriate.
 Seek out interesting news stories relating to the college of interest to the general public.
 Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories.
 Upload news stories to USF PCGS Website.
Events:
 Set up and breakdown of PCGS hosted events. Attend tabling events as scheduled. Some events
may be off-campus and on weekends; Must have reliable transportation.
 Designing flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing material for major events hosted by PCGS.
 Attend meetings including preparing agenda and taking minutes as requested by supervisor.
 Reach out to the community organizations, general public and donors with consistent messaging
about PCGS.
 Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications.
Student Development:
 Research jobs for potential graduate/graduated students in the student development program.
 Send out various job opportunities, certifications, workshops and conferences to help the student
enhance their resume.
Note: These are typical duties, others may be assigned as needed.
Average Number of Hours Per Week: 20 hours per week
Schedule: Flexible around class schedule and business hours of 8am – 5pm.. Applicant will be required to
occasionally work evenings and weekends, on and off campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
 2 or more years of experience as a communications and news intern.
Preferred Qualifications:
 2 or more years of experience in the following areas:
 Knowledge of tools and platforms in the social media space. Completed or working toward a college
degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, Advertising, Journalism or Public Relations)
 Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications.
 Experienced with computers and working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel)
 Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired
 Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus.
