Marketing Media Production Internship – Spring 2017

Intern will assist with advertising, promotions, video, photography, social media and website content in our fast-paced environment.
Other functions include:
•Under the direct supervision of the Brand Manager, will design and update sales collateral, Zoo membership collateral, digital graphics, map inserts and in-park signage.
•Film and edit videos, with leadership from the Digital Communications Manager, featuring “unforgettable, natural connections” (including animals interactions, events, etc.) that promote the Zoo on YouTube and other social sites.
•Research and proofread various marketing materials including: articles for Zoo publications, fact sheets, collateral, promotional copy for special events, etc.
•Photograph “unforgettable, natural connections” at the Zoo to update photo library and organize existing archives.
•Attend and actively participate in Zoo special events, offsite promotions and other marketing/PR functions as assigned (set-up and staging, check-in tables, manage RSVP’s, etc.)
•Occasional transportation of materials to/from marketing department vendors.
•Assist the Marketing Coordinator with managing photo library and creative archives.
•Assist Marketing Coordinator with Zoo membership efforts (including coordination of member-only events, e-vites, printed collateral, in-park signage to promote, etc.)
•Junior or senior status or recent graduate with major coursework toward a degree in Graphic Design, Advertising or Marketing. Portfolio required and may be uploaded as part of resume or under ‘other’ field in online application form.
•Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and preferably Premier Pro or other video editing software). Access to these programs on a personal laptop is ideal.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
•Familiarity with Adobe Premier Pro is a plus, but not required.
•Photography and/or videography experience preferred.
•Must be at least 18 years of age.
•Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
•Must be able to commit to a 14 week internship.
•Must be able to commit to a schedule of a minimum of 10 hours per week, preferably 15-20. Work days are primarily Monday through Friday within zoo operating hours (9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Days and hours are flexible.
•Some weekend and extended hours may be required during special events.
•If total semester internship hours must equal more than 15-20 hours per week, additional hours may be arranged.
If an internship offer is made, it is contingent on:
•Candidate will be responsible for a non-refundable $25 Application Fee.
•Candidates seeking academic credit must have arrangements agreed upon between the Zoo and their school before beginning the internship.
•All offers are contingent on the successful completion of a criminal background screening and execution of a required hold harmless/liability release agreement.
•Interns must have personal health insurance coverage for illness or injury (as volunteers and interns are not covered by the Zoo workers’ compensation program).
Internships are unpaid and are designed to meet academic requirements, as applicable, and provide valuable real-world experience for participants. Successful completion of an internship may also yield letters of recommendation, a portfolio of their work when applicable, and important networking contacts.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must be a Junior, Senior, or Master’s level students or recent graduates. Applicants must submit an Internship Application, cover letter, and resume in order to be considered for a position.
